It’s happening again… And we still don’t know what it means.
A tall stranger monolith resplendent, similar to those who appeared mysteriously in 2020has now been sighted in Gass Peaka hiking area in the nevada desertone hour north of Las Vegas.
It seems from another world, as the reflective surface of the brilliant rectangular prism mimics the vast desert landscape surrounding the mountaintop where it has been erected. Where does this object come from? Is it an art installation? An elaborate prank? Is Daft Punk preparing his return? Or is someone a big fan of the story ‘The Sentinel’ by Arthur C. Clark and the film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ by Stanley Kubrick?
The structure was sighted by the Las Vegas Police Department, which said it had seen it during a search and rescue mission north of the Las Vegas valley. “We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking, like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water,” the Police Department wrote. “But look at this!”
This is the latest in a series of mysterious glowing columns appearing around the world since at least 2020. In November of that year, a similar metal monolith was found deep in the Mars-like landscape of the red rock desert of Utah. Later there were sightings in Romaniathe Isle of Wight in the English Channel, the center of California and on the famous Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. They all disappeared as quickly as they appeared.
As you can imagine, it is speculating about who can be behind these monolithic structures. No one has claimed the structures, and there are conspiracy theories that involve aliens.
As a reminder, Kubrick’s 1968 film featured one of the most surprising and strange forms aliens have taken on screen as the enigmatic black block. It is debatable whether or not the mysterious monolith that suddenly appears is the actual form of the aliens; It could be a calling card indicating they are present. What we do know, however, is that the imposing column of the science fiction classic serves as warningas a teacher who facilitates evolutionary leaps and mysterious portal which raises more questions than it answers.
Regarding his depiction of alien life as a black slab, Kubrick stated: “It soon became apparent that the unimaginable cannot be imagined.” The monolith represents the unimaginablea chilling mystery whose simple geometry innovates by leaving aside, paradoxically, wilder and more garish representations of visitors from other worlds.
Whatever is created is believed (we at ‘Euronews Culture’ have our fingers crossed that this is an elaborate marketing ploy for the upcoming X-Files reboot’), the mystery remains.
Las Vegas authorities have used the discovery to remind people hiking in the Nevada desert to be prepared for the heat and stay safe. So, stay hydrated. The truth is out there.
