Many people use pop culture references for their Internet passwords, and a new study shows that this is a terrible habit for online security.
A new study has revealed which are the most dangerous (i.e. the most hackable) passwords in the world. pop cultureand the comic superheroes they occupy the first positions.
The study, carried out by Mailsuite, has analyzed 300 million accounts hacked and has identified the passwords with pop culture references that you should avoid. Which is the most dangerous? It turns out that Superman himself is the most hackable password. The superhero of DC appeared in 584,697 data breaches.
Second place goes to the rock group Blink-182which appears in 482,244 violationswhile the bronze goes to Batman, the neighbor of Superman in DC, with 352,422. Bruce Wayne must not be very happy.

For those who keep score and care about this kind of thing, DC is winning, since Marvel doesn’t appear until ninth place, and Spiderman sneaks between top ten with 253,179 violations.
“Unfortunately, the hackers are all too aware of humanity’s reliance on insecure password practices,” Mailsuite said. “One in four people reuses the same password on more than eleven sites and apps, which means that a hacker “Whoever gains access to one account can quickly access the rest in a domino effect.”

As for the actors, you may have noticed that they don’t even cause problems in the Top 25 Passwords in Pop Culture. Zac Efron tops the list as the most used passwordfollowed by Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp. The most depressing thing is that only one woman is in the top 10: Emma Watsonin fourth place.

“More than a third of people include personal information in your passwords,” they explain. “So all a hacker needs to crack the code is to look for clues in the social networks“.
