The Tarom airline has canceled numerous flights because its pilots say they are sick, however, its sources point to the cover-up of a possible staff strike.
Several Tarom airline flights were canceled on monday Romania after the pilots declared themselves sick. The airline’s union has not announced a labor dispute, but many internal voices indicated that it could be the prelude to a strike.
“We are from Spainwe carry since 5 in the morning waiting for takeoff. “No one has informed us of anything,” said a woman frustrated by this situation. She is not the only one affected.
“That have never happened to me”
A man says he will file a complaint to ask for an explanation. “I am going to file a claim with Tarom, to demand my money back. That have never happened to me”.
“I have had to sleep here, at the airport, with my son, my daughters and I have a baby. Look at my face, I’m very tired“says another man fed up with the situation that has arisen after the flight cancellations.
NATO summit in Washington affected
The alleged protest also caused the cancellation of the flight that was to take the ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense to the NATO summit in Washingtonsomething that caused the Government’s anger.
Faced with this unexpected situation, the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, gave an ultimatum to the company’s management. The United Tarom union has not yet issued a list of demands, but its members have a year requesting salary increases.
