Poland’s president visits China to strengthen trade ties with China

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda on Monday to discuss how to deepen cooperation between both countries.

Xi celebrated a welcoming ceremony for the Polish president before the Great Hall of the People, in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, before the two headed to a room for talks.

President Xi described Duda as an old friend of both the Chinese people and his ownand stated that relations between Poland and his country have proven to be resilient.

He added that China was willing to continue your friendship with Poland and promote the bilateral relationship between both countries to achieve better development and stability in a “chaotic international situation“.

In turn, Duda said that Poland and China they had built a good political relationship based on mutual respect for the last 75 years. Duda also said Poland would play a role in strengthening the relationship between China and the EU and invited Xi to visit Poland next year.

Trade and investment are priorities for the two leaders

Later, officials from both sides signed agreements on bilateral cooperation in trade and investmentas well as on agricultural exports.

Last Wednesday, it was officially inaugurated a freight train service from China to Europe. The goal of the service was to improve trade efficiency between China and inner Europe.

The train, loaded with goods such as air conditioners and accessories for coffee makers, left the Guangzhou international port and headed to the capital of Poland, Warsaw.

Freight train service is scheduled to leave China every Wednesday and late 16 days to arrive in Poland. It is 30% faster than previous regular freight trains.

The news comes in the middle of rising tensions between China and the EUafter China will start an investigation on EU pork imports due to tariffs proposed to exports of electric vehicles.
