China opens investigation into European pork in response to Commission taxes on Chinese electric cars. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced this Monday an anti-dumping investigation against certain imports of European pork and derivatives.
EU livestock farmers face a period of anxiety after the non-tariff barriers that China has deployed. The retaliatory measures against pork They do not surprise international trade specialists.

Last week, The European Union imposed additional tariffs of up to 38% on imports of Chinese electric cars starting in July. A complex situation as Germany and Sweden make cars in China.
German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck travels to Beijing as tensions rise. Before getting on the plane he explained: “China is an enormously important country for Germany and for Europe in all aspects. To be sure, these relationships have become much more complex in the past. It is worth mentioning the economic policy disputesespecially with the rates of the electric cars. Once again, it all comes down to one example. This will definitely have a big impact on my journey.”
China imported billion tonnes of EU pork last year. This tug of war places European livestock farmers in the middle of a trade war for the next few weeks.
