The Saadiyat Cultural District in Abu Dhabi aims to transform the arts and cultural landscape, both locally and globally, when it is completed in 2025.
A center of innovation and creativity, it is home to museums and educational and cultural institutions that celebrate the United Arab Emirates and the rest of the world.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, president of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism, explains to Euronews: “These institutions are more than just museums. They are community centers, educational centers. They will be remembered as that. As places where people gather, places that educate, that are full of information, places full of understanding and acceptance.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is the Arab world’s first “universal museum” and has already welcomed more than five million visitors since it opened in November 2017. The floating dome structure is an architectural masterpiece in itself , created by the French architect Jean Nouvel.
