The NFL announced this Tuesday the suspension of defensive back Tashaun Gipson, of the San Francisco 49ers, for six games of the 2024 season that will start in September, for violating the policy on performance-enhancing substances.

“Tashaun Gipson has been suspended by the commissioner for the first six games of the 2024 season. He is eligible to sign and participate in all preseason activities, including games at this stage,” the NFL wrote in a statement.

Gipson is a 33-year-old veteran who started his NFL career in 2012 with the Cleveland Browns, a team with which he remained until 2015. His effectiveness led him to be selected for the 2014 Pro Bowl.

In 2016 he moved to the Jacksonville Jaguars, with whom he remained for three seasons. He played the 2019 season with the Houston Texans, from there he went to the Chicago Bears, a franchise where he spent two years.

His most recent team was the San Francisco 49ers, with which he reached a National Conference final in 2022; that the Gambusinos lost to the Philadelphia Eagles; and they played in Super Bowl LVIII last February in which they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs.
