The Baku Energy Forum: AI, economic growth and the transition to clean energy

Advances in artificial intelligence, economic growth in developing countries and the shift to clean energy solutions were the main themes of the Baku Energy Forum, held at the Baku Energy Week.

Around 300 companies from 37 countries gathered at one of the most important events on the world calendar of the energy sector.

Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General and President of the World Council of the Energytold Euronews: “What we really want to know is what access to modern energy looks like for everyone and what kind of energy system is needed.”

And he added: “We think that the global energy systems They are no longer suitable. “We have to be progressive and pragmatic, but we won’t get there unless we engage more diverse people and communities and figure out their roles and options.”

Christophe McGlade, head of the Energy Supply Unit of the International Energy Agencyechoed this view: “Today, we have to recognize that the energy system does not work for everyone. There are a large number of people who do not have access to electricity. 750 million people do not have access to electricity and 2.2 billion do not have access to a clean kitchen, something that is very harmful to health.
