The Portuguese Renato Paiva, coach of the Tolucadid not rule out that Paraguayan Juan Escobar, who will be out for at least three months due to a health problem, from playing in the Apertura 2024 Mexican soccer tournament that began on July 5.
“It is an issue that we analyze, there is no decision in relation to that, but if (the diagnosis) is confirmed we can think about bringing in another player for Juan. It has been unexpected news and when it is like this, if you react in a hot manner, you lose the rationality that these issues require,” the coach explained in a press conference.
Last Monday, Toluca, the third team in Mexico with the most league titles, reported in a statement that due to unclarified “health issues,” Escobar, the Paraguayan national team in the 2019 Copa América, “will be under medical observation and will not undergo to physical demands” in the following three months.
The local press reported that an electrocardiogram showed that Escobar has a heart problem that puts his health at risk, which is why Paiva assured that his team will not accelerate the recovery of the person born in Luque 28 years ago.
“You have to wait a month for the exams to be repeated and follow the protocol that is applied. It is a heart problem, a sensitive issue and I think it is not necessary to accelerate. Everything that is from the heart is vital, the person comes first,” added the Portuguese.
Toluca will debut in the Apertura 2024 on July 6 when visiting the Chivas del Guadalajara on the first day of the championship.
