The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee decided to sanction the Albanian Football Federation with a fine of 37,375 euros and Serbia’s Federation with 10,500, for various charges in their matches on the first day of Euro 2024. against Italy in Dortmund and England in Gelsenkirchen, respectively.
Albania lost 2-1 to Italy and then they drew 2-2 against Croatia, making it very difficult for the team to get to the next round.
Albania has been sanctioned for various acts committed by its fans: the lighting of flares, with 10 thousand euros; the launch of objects, with 12,235 euros; field invasion, with 5 thousand euros; and “the transmission of provocative messages not suitable for a sporting event”, with 10,000 euros, according to UEFA in a statement.
Serbia, which lost 1-0 to England, has also been fined for the throwing of objects and “for the transmission of provocative messages not suitable for a sporting event” by its fans.
