The drug would be destined for other countries in Europe. The Portuguese Police arrested three people and seized documentation and effects such as high-end cars.
The Judicial Police The Portuguese company has seized more than 6.5 tons of cocaine that were going to be sold in European markets.
Three men have been arrested in the framework of the operation ‘Tartatus’which has lasted for more than two months. They are suspected of being members of a transnational criminal organization dedicated to introducing large quantities of cocaine into the european market.
Artur Vaz, Director of the National Unit to Fight Drug Trafficking, has declared that “Portugal is not the final destination of this drug, but others countries of the European continent“ and that it would be a “transnational criminal network with links to several countries that has the capacity to carry out large drug imports.”
According to the Judicial Police, the amount of cocaine would be sufficient to manufacture at least 65 million individual doses if it had been distributed.
During the ‘Tártaro’ operation, some 3 tons of cocaine in a warehouse in the region of Lisboawhere they were hidden in containers of fruit from a Latin American country.
Last week they also seized 3.6 tons of cocaine in a warehouse in the center of the country, hidden in a container of soy flour also from Latin America.
During the operation, several property searches were carried out and documentation and various objects were seized, including several high end cars.
