After eight epic seasons, ‘Game of Thrones’ fans now have the opportunity to fight a new battle. This time for valuable objects from the acclaimed HBO series.
Heritage Auctions will auction in October an extensive collection of costumes, set pieces and props from the universe of ‘Games of Thrones’.
With more than 2,000 items spread across 900 lots, the auction will include rare pieces such as a cast version of the Iron ThroneJaime Lannister’s full armor and sword, as well as dentures used by the White Walkers.
Las initial bids They will range between 500 and 20,000 dollars (between 450 and 18,000 euros).
Other notable objects up for bid are the leather capes and suits of Daenerys TargaryenJon Snow’s famous Longclaw sword, and the Hand of the Queen brooch worn by Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister.
It is expected that even objects that didn’t appear much on screen, such as the bell used during Cersei Lannister’s walk of shame and the blood-stained clothes from the infamous ‘Red Wedding’, attracted fans’ attention during the puja.
For Jay Roewe, senior vice president of global incentives and production planning at HBO, the auction is an opportunity for fans “get a piece of history”.
‘Game of Thrones’ It was a zeitgeist moment in our culture. It was a zeitgeist moment in high-end television. It was a zeitgeist moment in terms of HBO,” says Roewe.
Although the series began in 2011 and several objects in the auction date from then, they have not been “gathering dust,” Roewe adds. HBO had been carefully preserving thousands of props, costumes, and set pieces since the series began for use in potential spinoffs or sequels.
With the second season of ‘The Dragon House’ recently completed and other projects in full development, Roewe says the studio now knows what it needs to keep and what it can throw away.
For fans who want to get their hands on a piece of ‘Game of Thrones’, the vast collection is now open for preliminary bidding, and the auction will take place October 10-12 through Heritage Auctions in Dallas.
