Several European countries are suffering from high summer temperatures and experts say it is “time to act” to avoid more climate disasters.
Europe has been fighting numerous forest fires as a result of a prolonged heat wave. Serbia has sent helicopters to North Macedonia where they have been fighting against flames out of control during more than 20 days.
Your neighboring country, Albania, also struggles to control forest fires. The strong winds accelerated the spread of the flames in the two countries and many residents were forced to evacuate.
In Croatia, fires that broke out on the Dalmatian coast also forced residents to evacuate, but no victims were recorded.
They deployed 755 firefighters and 10 Canadair planes in 122 different fires. The Croatian fire brigade confirmed that the fires in all areas had been successfully contained.
Madrid residents are fed up with the heat
Extreme heat continues to scorch other parts of Europe as well, with nine municipalities throughout Spain under orange alerts due to high temperatures.
“Whom Madridthe heat is horrible,” a young woman on the street told ‘Euronews’. “Yes, this year it is hotter. I’m feeling it a little more on my skin. During the afternoon and evening you can feel that it is still hot,” said another.
