Following Ukraine’s incursion into Russian territory earlier this week, Moscow is scrambling to evacuate its citizens and send them humanitarian aid.

Moscow declared on Friday a emergency situation at the federal level in the region, four days after hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers crossed the border in what appeared to be kyiv’s largest attack on Russian soil since the Kremlin launched a large-scale invasion against its neighbor in February 2022.
Russian military and border guards have prevented Ukrainian forces from advancing further into the country, according to the Kremlin.
Russia stops Ukrainian troops in Sumy
Authorities also said Ukrainian fighters trying to advance into the area from Ukraine’s Sumy region were being pushed back.

Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk regional military administration, said there were 50 people inside the store at the time of the attack.
Filashkin described him as a selective attack against a place full of people and another “act of terror” by Russian forces. None of the claims have been able to be independently confirmed.
