Protests and counter-protests continue across Europe as the war between Israel and Hamas surpasses 300 days.
Pro-Palestinian protesters participated in rallies in favor of ceasefire throughout Europe when 300 days of the war between Israel and Hamas. Dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in Paris on Saturday to demand a solution to the war and call for a boycott of Israel in the Olympic Games.
Protesters carried banners calling for “sanctions against Israeli war criminals,” “Save Palestine” and “Stop the genocide of Palestinians.”
Many also expressed outrage at seeing the Israeli flag at the Paris Olympics. The activists said that Israeli athletes should have competed with neutral statuslike those of Russia and Belarus after the invasion of Ukraine.
“My opinion is that Israel should have nothing to do with the (Olympic) Games,” said protester Abdelali Mebarki, 59. “Russians participate in the games without a flag, why not Israel too?” he added.
A large crowd also gathered in the center of London on Saturday, demanding an end to the ongoing war.
Protesters gathered at Hyde Park Corner and along Park Lane in central London, unfurling a huge red line which they say symbolizes the red lines that Israel has crossed.
The protests occurred while the death toll in Gaza reached 39,550according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
