In this episode of ‘Meet the Locals’, we explore Azerbaijan’s rugged Shahdag Mountains with alpine skier Nazrin Garibova, whose journey from city life to the mountain slopes highlights endurance, passion and cultural pride.
Located in the Shahdag region of Azerbaijan, Nazrin Garibova represents the spirit of ski mountaineering. He was born in Azerbaijan but grew up in the United States. He returned in 2021 to participate in the Transcaucasian Route project.
He currently represents Azerbaijan in the national ski mountaineering team. This sport combines endurance, skill and impressive landscapes, where athletes conquer peaks throughout the year.
With the support of the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation, Nazrin hopes to inspire more girls to test their limits and discover the powerful beauty of mountaineering.
