For Mario Barrios, fighting in front of a home crowd is still a special feeling. It’s what he likes.

Barrios, 29, from San Antonio, is billed to defend his WBC welterweight title against 33-year-old Abel Ramos from Phoenix, Ariz., at AT&T Stadium in Ah. Arlington, Texas on November 15. The bout was part of the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul undercard.

Barrios, 29-2 (18 KO), was optimistic about his chances ahead of the bout.

Ramos loses to Yordenis Hugas in September 2020 but was able to retire Omar Figueroa Jr. in the sixth round eight months later. In the next two fights He would go on to lose to Luke Santamaria and Cody Crowley last April. Ramos was able to stop Juan Ramon Guzmán in the 5th round. The victory over Guzmán was enough to earn Ramos the Barrios championship. But the champion says he’s not ready to lose the belt yet.
