Before the election revealed The “President” will return to action 25 years after the last battle.

Nigerian Ike Ibeabuchi was a heavyweight contender in the 1990s who went 20-0 (15 KOs), defeating David Tua and Chris Byrd.

Bird was stopped in five rounds. But Tua ended up losing a decision in a hugely exciting 12-round brawl in 1997 that set a CompuBox record for the amount of punches thrown by both fighters.

But Ibeabuchi, the much-awaited champion, went off the rails and he was jailed for the next several years.

He has a troubled history, but in 1999 he was jailed in Las Vegas. He is serving a 16-year prison sentence for sexual misconduct. He announced plans to return, however, in 2016 after being released in Nevada. He was sent back to prison – this time in Arizona – for violating the terms of his parole. And because of the 2003 arrest warrant, he claims he was not aware.

Released again in September 2020, the now 51-year-old is scheduled to fight at the Diet Spiff Civic Center. In Port Harcourt, Nigeria, on December 7th, opposite will be Egyptian Ayman Farooq Abbas, 4-10-, the No. 1 seed (1 KO), who has spent the majority of his career fighting in the city. Cairo, where in 2023 he climbed off the floor to tie with Christopher Lovejoy, they were scheduled to meet over six rounds.
