Cascais City Council says it will provide affordable housing to teachers who teach in the municipality and who have to travel from afar.
He Cascais Town Hall has announced that it will provide 105 accommodation units to teachers who teach classes in the municipality but live more than 60 kilometers from the school.
“Our objective is to attract talent and attract the best teachers to come and teach in the municipality of Cascais, so that the housing factor does not get in the way of attracting that talent,” said the vice mayor of the Cascais City Council in PortugalNuno Piteira Lopes.
According to Lopes, there are four available homes immediately, with capacity for 16 teachers. A further eight flats will follow, with the capacity to accommodate 24. These flats are located in various institutions associated with the City Council. He Monastery of St. Mary of the Sea will have space to accommodate another 44 teachers.
Cascais is a municipality in the territory of Lisboain Portugal. The houses are located in the towns of Bicesse, Cobre, Tires and Torres. He monthly rent ranges between 150 and 400 eurosdepending on the type of accommodation.
Lopes announces that the City Council will also provide temporary accommodation to teachers who are only going to stay for a couple of months, for example to replace teachers on sick or maternity leave. The cost of temporary accommodation ranges between 275 and 400 euros per month.
