Roy Jones Jr. is giving boxing fans a special gift this holiday season. Serving as a commentator while cornering five fighters on a card he promotes at the Legends Casino Hotel in Toppenish, Washington on BLK Prime PPV ($12.99).
To celebrate the holiday season, BoxingScene asked Jones which fights he’d like to see gift fans in 2025, and the former pound-for-pound king and Hall of Fame fighter’s wish list included:
- Canelo Alvarez vs. David Benavidez
“That’s it. I don’t want to see Canelo fight anyone else,” Jones said.
- Naoya Inoue vs. Vasily Lomachenko
“You know, to be honest with you. I would like to see Loma come back and they meet up to see what Loma can do with him,” Jones said. “That would be a good fight because Loma has good technique. Dolphin is fighting guys that are much bigger than him right now. Inoue was closer in size to him. That was a really good fight.”
- Zhilei Zhang vs. Martin Bacole
“Both of them are fighters that no one really gave them a chance or tried to give them a chance. These two deserve it. They can both fight and having two great guys who can fight together in the ring is a great thing in the heavyweight division. Why wouldn’t we do that? The best fight for the two is with each other. They’re both big guys, good punchers, and both have good punching IQs. Why not cause a fight? They will both be Tyson Fury’s opponents because they are big enough.”
Other fights Jones listed are:
- Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson
- Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua
- Anthony Joshua vs. Diontay Wilder
- Terrence Crawford vs. Jaron Ennis, Sebastian Fundora, Tim Tzsyu or Jermell and Jermall Charlo
However, most big-money battles may require participation from Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia
“I think it’s going to be a sustainable move forward,” Jones said. “I love their involvement. Because it gives these people the opportunity to get the fight that people want to see. And they are compensated appropriately. Why don’t you fight? You just have to be prepared. Because you don’t want to jump too fast because of money and then get beat up.”
