20 of the 21 re-elected governors represent United Russia, while one, in Zabaikalie Krai, is a self-proclaimed candidate.
According to the results of the unified election day in 21 regions in Russia, incumbent governors win. 20 of them represent United Russia and one, in Zabaykalsky Krai, is a self-proclaimed candidate.
Voting took place in 83 regions of the Russian Federation. They also elected deputies to regional parliaments and local self-government bodies, as well as deputies to the State Duma.
Se elected local parliaments in 11 regions of Russiaas well as in the annexed Crimea and Sevastopol. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry described the elections held there as illegitimate and a violation of the rules and principles of the international law.
The Kremlin refused to cancel the elections in the Kursk border regiondespite the Ukrainian offensive. According to the head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), the elections in the region were held at the request of residents.
According to the independent Golos movement, there were 650 violation reports throughout the voting period. These included coercion of voters, obstruction of vote observation, handlingstuffing and refusal to issue ballots.
Golos highlighted a record reduction of competition in the last elections.
Authorities reported more than 200,000 attacks on the Internet portal of the CEC since September 5, of which up to 1% were critical attacks.
At the same time, CEC Chairperson Ella Pamfilova stated that the Commission had not observed no active activity of anti-Russian and pro-Western opponents in this electoral campaign.
