Under the motto ‘Let’s occupy our beaches’, the group displayed posters and towels and took a swim in a sector of Playa de Palma known for being traditionally intended for tourists.
Several dozen people participated this Sunday in a protest action in Mallorca against him mass tourism and to demand “that the residents can enjoy the beaches.”
Under the slogan ‘Occupem les plages’ (let’s occupy our beaches), the activists called by the ‘Mallorca Platja Tour’ campaign have symbolically staged the “recovery” of the stretch of Palm Beach known as Bathroom 6traditionally intended for recreational use by foreign tourists.
The participants in the action deployed their towels along the sand, they planted posters with slogans such as “stop the destruction of Mallorca” and there was a bath in the sea.
With their ‘performance’, the protesters demanded the imposition of limits to tourism in order to alleviate some of the problems and tensions that, in his opinion, the sector generates on the island, such as difficulties in accessing housing and the rising cost of livinghe deterioration of public services o to degradation of natural spaces.
