Shane McGuigan always felt there was something special about Caroline Dubois.

Lightweight boxer from London Recently upgraded to WBC champion after Katie’s long-standing goal Taylor relinquishes position and has been touted for many years to do great things. But McGuane wants not only a world title for the 23-year-old, but superstardom as well.

He believes Dubois, sister of IBF heavyweight champion Danielle, can catapult her to stratospheric fame. Considering his humble nature Charming smile quick sense of humor and her abilities

Now 10-0 (5 KOs), Dubois meets Jessica. Canada’s Kamara on January 11 at Sheffields Park Community Stadium, according to a bill promoted by Boxxer.

Dubois not only accepted McGuigan’s praise throughout, But it is also considered a challenge. She didn’t act like she was feeling pressured. But she wanted to show the world that her coach was right all along. She thought she could support McGuigan’s assertion.

“I believe so. But I can only do what I can do. I can only do so much,” DuBois said.

“For those of you in the crowd and the general public to stand behind me and support me. And obviously inspired by what I do in the ring. So I can only do what I can. I believe I will.”

DuBois appears to be a shy person by nature. So being a superstar is attractive, right?

“One hundred percent,” she answered confidently. “I think that appeals to everyone. But like I said I can only do what I can do. My job is to train hard. Fight hard.”

McGuigan believes Dubois, who battles on Sky Sports, can control the ball that Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor ran with and take it further. He thought she was the next female fighter to cross dimensions in a big way. And that’s a burden and responsibility Dubois feels ready for.

“I feel like everyone becomes a face. (of their sport) Although in the world of boxing They have two personalities. Two sides to one coin And that’s me, you know, outside of the ring and with my family. I am also an introvert,” she explains.

“I like shopping, I like doing my hair, I like getting my nails done, I like going out and doing things like that. But when it comes to stepping into the ring and fighting? Another side of me emerged. The more aggressive the team. The more you want to dominate and take over, that team will come out.”

Of course, her first goal is to beat Kamara 14-4 (3 KO) in front of her.

From a gym that recently saw Chris Billam-Smith capture the WBO cruiserweight title, Ellie Scotney recently won a world title. The rapid rise of light heavyweights Adam Azim and Craig Richards on the big show. A feeling of positivity and confidence has spread since Dubois only received her title.

She traveled to Hamburg. She won the belt at the WBC meeting last month. And even though she didn’t win the crown in the ring But she respected her final opponent, Maira Moneo, enough to consider it a championship fight.

“It feels good. It feels good,” she said as she accepted the belt.

“It’s strange because when I went out there[to Hamburg]I didn’t really feel that way. But as soon as I got there and rubbed shoulders with people like Shawn Porter and I was like, wow, I was blown away. I always say that I don’t think I’m impressed by a celebrity or a singer or whatever. But I saw fighters that I grew up watching and respecting. And I freaked out on the other side of the room.”

There are many big names in Hamburg, from Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko to Vinny Paz, Porter, Fundoras and countless others.

Dubois doesn’t feel like she’s missing out on her big night. without claiming a position in the ring

“I feel like I like myself because last time I fought a really good name… Of course, the boxing world and the British public may not know her. And that’s my problem. When faced with many women I will fight with. They won’t know. Unless it’s a big name like Alycia Baumgardner or Terri Harper or Beatrice Ferreira, they’re just not known. Therefore, they will not be respected.

but I I know them and I know what their history is. And I know who they’re fighting. And who they beat and so on and so forth. So for me, when I stepped into the ring to fight who I was the last to beat, Maira Moneo beat her, Magali Rodriguez, Yanina del Carmen Lescano and all these girls, for me, I has already coordinated it Unfortunately, now I will have to go down that path to fight people and hope to earn their respect.”

DuBois gave up little hope of fighting Taylor. But it doesn’t feel like she’s missing out by following the Irish great. Instead of trying to take the baton from her in the ring.

“Skinny to nothing,” she smiles, asking about the prospect of trying to fight Taylor moving forward. Before adding, “For me, I really don’t care. My career has fortunately not had to revolve around Katie. There were some big female fighters coming through, Alycia Baumgardner, Terri Harper, Beatrice Ferreira moving up in weight, Chantelle Cameron, Sandy Ryan, Michaela Meyer moving up a little bit more. And there are more names, so I really don’t care. That I will fight with Katie Taylor or not She is a great champion. And I’ve never seen myself on stage with her before. So it’s really not relevant to me. For me, I want to create my own legacy of fighting big names and defeating them.”

That starts in 2025 and is a year that Dubois hopes will be filled with both quantity in terms of fights and quality in terms of opponents.

“I would fire both,” she added, “For me, I had a good couple of formative years.

“Now I want to be united. I want to be a person who has no problems. I want to be a creator of a legacy. I want to pursue my goals. That is, being a multi-division world champion. The undisputed world champion for me, this year is going to be about trying to put some good names together and I’m going to go out there and try to beat them.”
