Caroline Dubois admits her future is unclear as she waits for Katie Taylor to make the next move.
Dubois, 10-0 (5 knockouts), is the top contender. of Taylor for the WBC lightweight title and Dubois may still fight again this year in Liverpool on December 14 and currently holds the WBC interim title.
When asked by Sky Sports what her next move was, DuBois said: “It was unfortunate, but the ball was not in my court. It’s in her field. (Taylor’s) and the WBC and Mauricio Sulaiman’s stadium.” She hasn’t defended her 135-pound belt in over a year. She fought Amanda Serrano (on November 15 in Texas S) And she had a great fight. So now she keeps all her belts at 140 and I don’t think she’s coming. Back down so she could waste time and wait for the inevitable. I feel like she’s probably been undressed for a while now. But now you have to come back and fight me or take off your belt. No matter what, I’m ready.”
Dubois will attend the WBC conference in Hamburg to make her case. and is confident she has what it takes to fill the void left by Taylor. The Irish heroine, whose last three fights took place in the junior welterweight division. Finally decided to call it a day.
“I will be the next female boxing presenter,” I believe so. We don’t have a lot of female stars,” DuBois said. “We had Savannah Marshall, but she kind of faded away, and we didn’t have any female stars that were really getting a break. I see myself as an undisputed multi-division world champion.”
