Obama wrote: “With summer coming to an end, I wanted to share some songs I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to.”
Obama, who recently supported Kamala Harris’ presidential campaignhas been releasing annual playlists every summer since 2015when he was still in the Oval Office.
A common question is whether he actually selects his playlists himself, with many questioning if he has a team behind him of him making his frequently brilliant selections.
Obama refuted claims that a team is behind its selectionstelling comedian Hasan Minhaj: “I’m very happy to have this opportunity. People believe the books and the movies, but the playlists, they somehow think – and this comes mostly from young people like you – somehow, you all think you invented el rock ‘n’ roll. you invented el hip-hop. And so the fact that my lists are, you know, pretty incredible – people seem to think, well, there must have been some 20-year-old intern who was figuring out this latest cut. No, man! It’s on my iPad right now.”
