Baku Grand Prix: The city prepares for the most in-demand race

Thousands of workers and volunteers are working to reduce the impact of the race for the nearly three million people who live in Azerbaijan’s capital.

Emotion grows in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, a few days before the celebration of the Formula 1 Grand Prix with more demand, which will be held on September 15. The city will be full of tourists, almost all hotels are full between September 13 and 15. The growing demand for tickets led the organizers to decide expand capacity of the race by 35%, adding additional stands along the track.

The general director of the Baku street circuit, Magsud Farzullayev, is proud of the impact that the Formula 1 is taking into Azerbaijanwhich has hosted the event since 2016. “It is a sport on the rise. It is also expanding globally. For our country, it’s great to be a part of that. It brings a lot of recognition, a lot of tourism, as well as economic benefits for the country and its citizens,” she says.

The organizers have also paid attention to the securityand have implemented new technologies to improve race conditions.
