Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentine National Team, is seriously considering the possibility of leaving Lionel Messi for the duel against Peru.
With the ticket already in the bag for the quarterfinals, the Argentine strategist knows that having Leo on the field could be counterproductive, due to the tackles he usually receives from defenders, and because Leo comes with significant muscle wear.
But Leo would not be the only modification that Scaloni would send in his starting team to confront the Peruvians.
Guido Rodríguez and Ezequiel Palacios could see minutes in the starting team, while Lautaro Martínez, scorer of the winning goal against Chile, would take his place in the starting team.
Argentina will play for first place in the group against Peru, an important position that would force it to face Mexico or Ecuador in the next round.
If they finish in second place, La Albiceleste would have to face Venezuela, the great surprise of the Copa América by having a perfect pace in their two previous duels.
