Apple has unveiled its latest iPhone 16 series, along with new Apple Watch and AirPods. Although Apple Intelligence was one of the highlights, the long-awaited artificial intelligence capabilities will not be available until October and, in Europe, will take even longer.

Apple shares fall during iPhone presentation event
The debut of the new iPhone, traditionally celebrated in September, is considered the Apple’s most important annual event and is expected to boost sales in the final quarter.
However, the announcement focused on artificial intelligence did not impress investorssince many of the new features had already been introduced during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC24) a few months beforewhen Apple Intelligence was first revealed.

AI, at the heart of the new iPhone 16 series
CEO Tim Cook has revealed that the iPhone 16 has been designed from the ground up for ‘Apple Intelligence’. The new terminal features a customizable action button and a dedicated camera control button for instant access. It is equipped with the chip A18designed specifically to support capacities of Generative AI.
For the premium models, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, an advanced chip A18 Pro. This allows for a 17% increase in total system memory bandwidth and offers a Higher efficiency than standard A18 chip. The Pro models also have larger screens and thinner bezels than previous terminals. These premium models feature a titanium frame, which weighs almost half as much as stainless steel and is more resistant to scratches.
The iPhone 16 series will be available for pre-order starting this Friday and will be officially available in stores on September 20. iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus start in 799 and 899 dollars respectively, while the iPhone 16 Pro starts in 999 dollarsand the iPhone 16 Pro Max is priced at $1,999.
Apple had previously introduced Apple Intelligence, with a Siri powered by AIconsidered one of the most significant updates to the iPhone. Siri, powered by a ‘Large Language Model’ (LLM) and integrated with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, now has enhanced capabilitieslike the contextual awareness and advanced interaction with applications.
This update is visually represented by a flashing light on the side of the screen. However, these functions They will not be fully available until Octoberand new updates are expected in the following months.
Questions have been raised over whether the iPhone 16 series will significantly boost sales in the latest quarter, given the delay in the deployment of its AI functionalities. And in Europe, Apple has not yet announced its launch plans for regulatory reasons. In June, the company cited its concern about not complying with the European Digital Markets Law.

New Apple Watch and AirPods introduce improved health features
