The UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Commission fined this Sunday, for the second time so far Euro Cupto the Albanian Football Federation with 47,500 euros for the incidents that occurred during the match against Croatia, played in Hamburg stadium on June 19, 2024.

UEFA punished Albania with a fine much higher than that imposed on Croatia (27,000 euros) due to the behavior of its fans in the same match.

“The financial sanction comes again from the problems caused by some Albanian fans, who lit flares during the match, spread inappropriate messages during the Croatia-Albania match, as well as the interruption of the match by a fan,” reported the Albanian Football Federation.

During the match, chants were recorded from both fans against the Serbs, who literally chanted “kill the Serb”, something that caused Serbia to threaten to abandon the tournament.

In fact, as explained by the Albanian federation, 25,000 euros of the fine was for “broadcasting inappropriate messages during the match.” The first fine that Albania received was 37,375 euros, for problems in the debut against Italy.

Furthermore, the Albanian federation once again addressed its fans directly so that they do not issue messages with ethnic or political content.
