A plane with the capacity to carry dozens of passengers crashed on Friday in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulolocal media reported.
The Brazilian airline VoePass says that 62 people were on board the plane that crashed. The VoePass airline confirmed in a statement that a plane that was heading to Guarulhos international airportin Sao Paulo, crashed with 58 passengers and 4 crew members on board. The statement did not specify the causes of the accident.
Firefighters confirmed that the plane fell in the city of Vinhedobut they did not offer more details. The fire department was sending crews to the scene of the accident.
The Brazilian television network ‘GloboNews’ showed images of a large area in flames and smoke coming from an apparent airplane fuselage in a residential area full of houses. Other images from ‘GloboNews’ showed a plane descending vertically in a spiral.
At an event in the south of Brazilthe president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva asked the crowd to stand up and keep a minute of silence. He said it appeared all passengers and crew had died, without specifying how that information had been obtained.
