Engineers were carrying out operations near the road S3 when they found the missile and gave orders to evacuate the village of Chlebowo and the closure of a section of the road from Szczecin to Gryfino. Sappers have established a 1,500 meter safety zone.
About 80 people had to leave the town. Ten people were taken to a primary school in Gardno, while 13 people refused to evacuate.
The missile takes its name from a popular song in vogue during the Great Patriotic War, Katjuša, but the launch system was also called “Stalin’s organ“, from the name that the German soldiers gave it due to the noise of the rockets that came out.
