But the fun also had a serious purpose. In a statement, the organizers stated: “Pride is a demonstration. “It’s about making lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) people visible.”
Europe’s main LGBTI organization, ILGA-Europe, published its Rainbow Map annual. It evaluates 49 European countries based on their legislative evolution in the field of human rights of LGBTI people. Austria is in 19th place, with a score of 49.6%. The scale starts from 0% (serious violations of human rights, discrimination) to 100% (respect for human rights, full equality) based on laws and policies.
