Macron announces the dissolution of the National Assembly and early elections at the end of the month

Emmanuel Macron has announced the dissolution of the Government and the calling of national elections at the end of the month, on June 30.

The French president, Emmanuel Macronsaid on Sunday that he was dissolving the National Assembly and calling early legislative elections after his party suffered a tough defeat in the European Parliament elections.

In an address to the nation from the Elysée presidential palace, Macron said: “I have decided to return to you the choice of our future parliamentarian through the vote. I therefore dissolve the National Assembly“.
