Zhang: Fury vs. Joshua “Means Nothing” Now

Zhilei Zhang says a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua “doesn’t mean much” at this point in his career. It’s like, what does it matter? These guys are just fighting for money in a meaningless fight. If Turki Al-Sheikh wanted to be tough, he would make Fury & Joshua earn their dough by walking on a bed of hot coals first and doing Martin Bakole first.

Zhang notes that the two British heavyweights had talked about fighting years ago when they both held world titles, but now that they don’t, they’re still talking. He sees Joshua-Fury as a fight that will only prove who is ONE of the best heavyweights in the UK, not the best.

For the Joshua vs Fury fight to prove who is the best British heavyweight, they have to defeat Daniel Dubois, Moses Itauma and Fabio Wardley.

It is doubtful that man can beat these three young lions. Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) has already failed in his fight against unknown Dubois in the fifth round on September 21 in front of a horde of 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London. Not surprisingly, Fury has no desire to mix with Dubois. He knows his limitations.

The whole point of the Fury Joshua fight is about money. That’s it – just the dough. Neither man needed extra money, but they didn’t refuse.

Senseless fight

“Usyk is absolutely indisputable, and I think he performed much better than in the first fight. I had it one-sided. I think he is the king of the heavyweight division,” said Zhilei Zhang to secondsouttalking about Oleksandr Usyk’s win over Tyson Fury last week.

“I don’t think the fight means much in terms of belts and championships because that fight has been talked about for years,” Zhang said of a fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua. “When they both had belts, they talked about it. Now, nobody has belts and they’re still talking about it.

“I think it’s a good way to see who is one of the best heavyweights in the UK, but other than that, I don’t see any meaning for that fight other than a scarf,” Zhang said.

Not that Fury & Joshua are both washed up at this stage of their careers. They were never as good as their fans thought they were. Neither has beaten solid fighters like Martin Bakole or Daniel Dubois during their careers.

AJ and the Gypsy King took advantage of the weak opposition that was around and were carefully matched by their promoters.

It would be better if Fury and Joshua beat someone first before they meet in their “Battle of Britain” match in 2025, but they probably don’t care. Their confidence levels are at an all-time low, and they don’t want to take the chance of losing someone else. Joshua has already had a whole package of rebuilding fights, and it hasn’t helped. Fury hasn’t beaten a talented fighter in years.
