By Yannis Mihanos: In recent years, boxing has lost its identity. New advisors, channels and investors have entered the sport.
Tonight is a special night, and we are looking at an event that was never supposed to happen.
Many were quick to describe the fight as a circus fight when it was announced.
Jake Paul, a celebrity turned fighter with a less appealing boxing history, and Mike Tyson, 58, a veteran well past his prime.
It seems outrageous for a 58-year-old man to beat a man at the peak of his youth, but we’re talking about Mike Tyson.
Mike Tyson is a man who has redeemed himself, rediscovered his passion and his thirst for life.
Now, when it comes to boxing, he returned to boxing four years ago in an exhibition fight against Roy Jones.
After that, he kept his interest warm for more boxing until this offer came.
Not many people get second chances in life, but I think that for Tyson, God made an exception.
It left him one last crack at glory.
Although it is not a heavyweight title at stake, it is an official fight, and will be recorded in his boxing record as one.
Mike’s most significant asset has always been his ferocious punching power.
Punching power is the only thing that leaves the fighter last, and this is a fact.
“Get off this rude boy’s back”
Many people are betting that Mike will be victorious with a huge knockout.
And there is a reason for that. Paul is an improved boxer, but he doesn’t have the defensive moves of someone like Mayweather, so he can’t avoid getting hit. If you got hit by Mike Tyson, that’s a problem.
For the first time in his career, Jake Paul may discover the humiliating truth that you cannot underestimate a boxing legend. Despite his age, Mike Tyson can still do damage.
This article may be biased. Maybe I’m too excited to see Mike back in the ring, but a solid performance will inspire many others to return to their passion, and boxing can recalibrate its identity.
Will Tyson win?
Only God knows if it is the right time for him. Maybe the script says he will lose gracefully, or it would be a draw or, as most of us hope, a significant win for Mike.
No one knows what the outcome will be except God.
He’s 58. So what?
Okay, he’s 58 years old. So what? Fatherhood can be intimidating for everyone. Add to this what society tells you, and you have the result of many retiring prematurely.
They give up their dreams and passion and live a mediocre life.
I am 52 years old and I have a lot to give and many dreams to fulfill, so I keep going.
No one expected to see Mike Tyson in the ring again since he retired twenty years ago.
At that time, he was in his worst physical and mental condition, and Father Time had easily defeated him.
But not now. Now, he can fight with more heart, a better mind, and a reformed character.
Will it be enough to beat the much younger Paul?
In all honesty, I hope Mike finishes it, but even if he doesn’t, I’ll still be happy with it. To get this far is a massive achievement. He is a great inspiration to all of us.
Many hate Tyson’s guts for challenging a young stallion at this age and hope he will be humiliated, discouraging anyone else who dreams of doing similar things.
Spirit over matter
The spiritual element can make a difference in this struggle. There is an inner power that he can channel, and could turn the result in his favor.
Faith strengthens the body and the mind.
Tyson now has a different aura. It has evolved. He opened himself to the infinite power of our creator, and this is something that cannot be composed because it is internal.
We’ve seen that happen a lot with the other Tyson. Tyson Fury became another man and defeated Wilder three times. The first round, officially a draw, was the biggest. Wilder’s lethal punch knocked him down in the twelfth round, but somehow, he found the strength to get up and finish the fight.
Since then, he has experienced more setbacks, but he has always found a way to get up and carry on in all his struggles.
Time stops where faith begins
Time stops where faith begins. Those who have faith have all the youth needed to accomplish the most impossible tasks.
Those who don’t are the ones who most often feel old and weak.
I will close this article by thanking God for this fight that is happening.
Everyone needs to tune in, haters and fans alike, and I hope they all become one at the end of this fight.
