Tyson Fury has already talked about a trilogy against Oleksandr Usyk after his rematch on December 21.
Fury feels he will be victorious in the second fight with WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweight champion Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) in Riyadh. Rather than move on and face someone else, like Martin Bakole, Daniel Dubois, or Anthony Joshua, Fury Wants a trilogy with Usyk.
It’s hard to know if Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) is serious about the trilogy because His Excellency Turki Alalshikh wants to see him and Joshua fight in 2025. That’s the fight he and the fans want to see.
Even though Fury beat Usyk in their rematch on December 21, fans wanted to see him face Joshua or someone else to keep things fresh. However, the reality is that Fury will probably lose to Usyk, and it has nothing to do with a trilogy match after that.
Furia would seem a glutton for punishment if he stubbornly chose to fight Usyk a third time after being beaten a second time. He could justify taking the trilogy by saying he deserved the win, which is what he did this time. He still feels that he won the previous fight against Usyk on May 18. Fury will look like a pathetic loser if he chooses to muddy the waters by crying that he should have won, which he did last time.
Many fans believe it was a clear win for Usyk, and think the three judges who worked the fight scored it much closer than it should have been.
I watched the fight and saw Usyk win 8-4. It wasn’t close at all. The referee stepped up and stopped Usyk from knocking out Fury in the ninth round with his strange standing eight count, altering the outcome of the fight and saving Tyson from being knocked out.
The Scores
– 115-112 – Usyk
– 114-113 – Rage
– 114-113 – Usyk
“I would love to have a trilogy match with Usyk because then it would be 1-1,” said Tyson Fury to Sky Sports News Boxing about what his plans are after fighting Oleksandr Usyk on December 21. “I do exactly the same thing, but I don’t have an eight count in round nine, and I win comfortably.
