Accused appeared for attacking journalists with firecrackers. Roberto Alvarado took over.
The Chivas player identified himself as the person responsible for throwing the rocket into the press room where journalists were waiting for Fernando Beltrán’s press conference. The attacker assured that the bomb was not aimed at journalists but at a colleague as a joke.
The device exploded in the club’s press room and stunned some cameramen, but luckily, no one was hurt. The incident worried the press, and the media demanded that the prankster’s name be revealed, which the club initially refused, so many reporters decided to leave the team without giving him a chance.
After all the commotion and public outrage, club staff called back some journalists who had been stationed on the outskirts of Verde Valle. Inside the facility, Alvarado received the media, took responsibility, apologized, and assured the press that his drilling was by mistake, a version not everyone believed.
The incident comes in an important week for the red and white club, with Fernando Caco reportedly set to train before abandoning ship in one of the most important games of each season this weekend, facing Guadalajara against Atlas. Boca Juniors.
Alvarado is the best player in the current Guadalajara squad and has three goals and three assists in Apertura 2024.
