Terence Crawford on Canelo Alvarez: “Of course I beat him”

Terence Crawford is confident he will beat Canelo Alvarez if the unified super middleweight champion agrees to fight.

When asked about Canelo’s reluctance to fight him, Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) said they would both be “winners” if they fought. The money that the fight will have will benefit both of them, but it’s not worth it for Canelo because he can make better money fighting popular fighters.

Crawford says he will be ready to fight Canelo if he decides to fight. He didn’t say if he’s sitting idle, waiting for Canelo to fight, or if he’s staying busy.

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes Crawford just wants Canelo from this point on and will retire if he doesn’t get the fight. If that’s Crawford’s approach, he’s a fool because his chances of getting the Canelo fight will diminish the longer he sits on the sidelines.

How Crawford Can Win Canelo Fight

  1. Stay active: Focus on fighting three or four times a year
  2. Persuade Turki Alalshik to pay Cancel $150 million
  3. Advance to 168: Fight David Benavidez, David Morrell and Osleys Inglesias in that order

“Canelo is bigger than me and stronger than me. We both give something, but we both gain something at the same time,” said Terence Crawford to TMZ Sports on him and Canelo Alvarez have something to gain by fighting each other next.

“I don’t know. Canelo has his own agenda that he wants to deal with. So whatever he decides to do is on him. But if he decides to come Crawford’s way, we’ll be ready.

Crawford is not a PPV attraction. He is only popular with hardcore fans who like his defensive style. He’s a boring fighter with a Mayweather-esque style that appeals to fans. looking at Floyd’s fight approach to the fight. Crawford’s recent fight against Israil Madrimov at 154 was a fight that caused fans to choke last August.

Canelo can make more money fighting David Benavidez, Artur Beterbiev, Dmitry Bivol, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Diego Pacheco.

“I don’t know if a fight of that magnitude could even be held at the Sphere,” Crawford said when asked if he would be interested in fighting Canelo at the 18,600-seat Sphere in Las Vegas. “It’s not enough people. I don’t think it’s big enough.”

It seems that Crawford is hoping that His Excellency will stage a fight between him and Canelo in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That won’t happen unless Canelo’s price is met, and I don’t see him giving in on that.

“I couldn’t really say. I hope it’s somewhere where it can benefit both parties,” Crawford said when asked where he wanted his fight with Canelo to be staged.

“If he decides to come my way and he and I get in the ring, it would be an electrifying fight. It won’t be like any other fight he’s fought recently, and it would be a well-fought fight for us two, I believe,” Crawford said of Canelo.

It will not be electrifying because he is a pure boxer, and he has already hinted that he will follow the plan that Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol have created on how to beat Canelo.

Therefore, if Crawford engaged in the fight, he would hit, throw punches in one pot, hold, and then run like a thief all night. That’s what Mayweather did. He hit, ran and held Canelo the entire fight. It was very boring to watch.

“Of course I’ve beaten him. There’s no doubt in my mind I’ve beaten anybody I’ve been in the ring with,” Crawford said when asked if he would beat Canelo.

Crawford won’t beat Canelo because he still couldn’t beat Madrimov in a convincing fashion last August. Instead of asking Canelo 24/7, Crawford needs to give Madrimov a rematch because there are still a lot of questions about who really deserved the win in that fight.
