Teofimo Lopez told Devin Haney that he is thinking about their March 25 fight, calling the “punk b***” on social media. WBO welterweight champion Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) seems bitter that Devin won’t accept an offer for a fight against him.
The offer was $2.4 million with a 55-45 split in favor of Teofimo, who felt he deserved the bigger cut because he is the “king” of the 140 lb division. Haney is only a former champion, coming off a loss to Ryan Garcia on April 20th.
The Haney Circle Wolves
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) will next fight on March 25 on BLT Prime against an opponent to be announced. The boxing public will be very interested to see who Haney faces on that date because he can pick almost anyone.
Fighters aren’t afraid to fight Haney after Garcia exposed him in a 12-round majority decision win. He looked so bad in that loss to Kingry that the wolves at 140 surrounded him, seeing him as easy prey. One of the wolves is Teofimo. He knows wounded prey when he sees it.
Many Ryan Garcia believes ruined Haney, and is no longer considered elite or A-level. His decision to wrestle at BLT Prime next March 25 furthers fans’ belief that Devin is mentally and physically broken.
Devin hit the deck three times in that fight, and many believe the referee saved him from being knocked out in the seventh round, stopping the action to take a point from Ryan to hit on the break.

At the time, Haney was close to being defeated by Garcia. Since the New York State Athletic Commission overruled Haney after the loss, it didn’t matter that Ryan had fired him.
Teofimo is scheduled to fight former IBF 140-lb champion Subriel Matias (21-2, 21 KOs) on March 15 on ESPN+ in a card promoted by Top Rank. Lopez had a hard time getting the big names to fight.
Named Terence Crawford, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Haney, Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis. The only ones interested in fighting Lopez are lightweight contenders Keyshawn Davis and Matias. He’s not interested in fighting Keyshawn because he’s not a star.
