Tank surprised fans today by announcing that 2025 will be his last in the sport as he will retire at the end of the year. He says he will fight three times next year and then hang up the gloves. Then, His Excellency Turki will make a fight between Tank and Shakur; should happen next year,
Turki’s Master Plan
For the Tank-Shakur fight to happen, Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) must defeat the undefeated Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) had #1 Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs). Those aren’t exactly sure-fire wins for Shakur, who isn’t a puncher and doesn’t seem like he was designed in power for the 135 lb. division.
“The situation with Shakur is (William) Zepeda is injured. My plan is for Shakur is what I want to see in my life. I hope I have time to see. For Shakur, my plan is this fight (Floyd Schofield) , then Zepeda, and then we’ll see if Tank wants to be on our show,” said His Excellency Turki Alalshikh to Ariel Helwani. channel on YouTube about his interest in matching Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis.
“He officially asked me on social media for two Ferraris. I think the two Ferraris are much cheaper than what I pay for some fighters. If this is the cost of the fight, why not?” Turki said of Tank Davis already asking him for two Ferraris before he even considered fighting on one of his cards.
Tank will need to want the fight with Shakur, because he has routinely avoided taking on risky fights during his eleven-year professional career. He never fought Vasily Lomachenko or showed interest in fighting Teofimo Lopez or Devin Haney. Tank is already rich and has enough money to live the rest of his life in his high-rise apartment in Baltimore. Will he agree to fight Shakur? You’d like to think so, but his track record of avoiding it says otherwise.
