Ryan Garcia says he wants to get a tune-up when he returns to action in early 2025. His suspension expires on April 20, 2025, and he will be out of the ring for a year. Garcia is coming off a win over Devin Haney last April in Brooklyn in a fight that looked like a massacre.
Garcia doesn’t say who he has in mind for his tune-up when he returns, but someone like Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero would be ideal. This fight will sell as it gives Ryan a tune up to get back in the ring to shake off the rust.
Ryan calls for his suspension “Prison” because it prevented him from competing, making money and taking advantage of his fame. With this performance, Ryan could have made a lot of money by fighting Haney in a rematch, Gervonta Davis, Teofimo Lopez, or Shakur Stevenson. The options that would have been available to Ryan were limitless.
The win took Ryan’s popularity to the next level. Unfortunately, he tested positive for a banned substance, Ostanine, and was suspended by the New York Commission. His win was expunged, and Haney’s loss was wiped from his record.
The suspension prevents Ryan from enjoying the fame he received from the fight. It is also wrong that Haney, who was left in suspended animation, cannot try to avenge his loss in a rematch. The suspension hurt Haney more than Ryan because he couldn’t redeem himself.
If it weren’t for the suspension, both fighters would probably have already booked a lucrative rematch. Haney has not fought since his loss, but is expected to return in December to stay active.
Boxing prison going fast
I’ll be in the ring in no time
I’ve already gone after the biggest fights
Maybe a tune up because it’s been a year
