Ryan Garcia posted a clip on social media of Devin Haney’s father and manager, Bill Haney, saying that Devin was “Coming to kill him” before their fight on April 20th. Garcia says Bill’s “kill” comment leaves him with no choice but to ask.
It’s unclear if Bill was serious when he said Devin was coming to “kill” Ryan, but he looked dead serious with his facial expression.
“Devin won’t box you, Ryan Garcia. He’s here to kill you,” said Bill Haney in a video clip that Ryan Garcia posted today on X, resulting in him saying he has no choice but to sue for this.
There was no trace of a smile on Bill’s face, and he didn’t seem to be acting theatrically to create false hype. Papa Haney he looked like a wolf as if Ryan had done Devin wrong, and he was going to pay the ultimate price. If Bill was just kidding, he didn’t show it.
This would be a countersuit from Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), which Haney and Bill are suing for these reasons:
- Battery: Ryan tested positive for the PED, Ostarine, meaning the fight was not conducted in fair terms. Garcia was given extra help with the use of performance-enhancing drugs, which was previously unknown to Devin and Bill Haney.
- Fraud: Devin assumed Ryan wouldn’t be drugged for the fight, and obviously he wasn’t after testing positive.
- unjust enrichment: Haney believes that Garcia unfairly earned money from the fight because he was not clean of drugs.
I have no choice but to take it to court

I asked Bill to stop fighting
Let the battery continue

Hopefully Haney and Ryan can resolve their squabbles without going to court over this because it would ruin a potential rematch if both end up bitter about their legal troubles.
