2020 Cuban Olympian Andy Cruz hopes Keyshawn will succeed in his title challenge against WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk on February 14. Cruz says he wants to take the WBO belt from Keyshawn (12-0, 8 KOs) if he wins it. Berinchyk vs. Keyshawn will be shown on ESPN and ESPN+. The event starts at 9:00 pm ET / 6:00 PT.

Andy refers to Davis as “my son” because of his many victories over him. However, he still wants to defeat Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) next month. He says he’s going to watch the fight.

A story of domination

It would be Cruz’s fifth win over Keyshawn. His record is perfect 4-0, and has repeatedly called Davis, promoted by Top Rank, since turning pro, but with no luck. Keyshawn doesn’t want to lose again, so he makes excuses.

Even if Davis beats Berinchyk, he will not defend the WBO title against Cruz. He is the last person you would consider fighting because he knows what will happen if they fight.

It would be like Keyshawn giving away the WBO belt. He has already said what he hopes to do if he puts his hand on the belt. Davis says he wants to use it to try to lure WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis into a unification fight. It’s a pipe dream that has no chance of happening because Tank focuses on fighting popular fighters.

Keyshawn’s excuses for not fighting Andy Cruz

  • “She’s not ready yet. She doesn’t have a fan base. Her whole fan base is built around me.”
  • “This guy’s not trying to fight me. I’m kicking him. He’s just not ready.”
  • “We already sent a contract. I already live with Eddie Hearn and I said to put in the fight. I don’t know what else you want to do (to make the Andy Cruz fight).

I don’t know how Keyshawn could say with a straight face that Cruz isn’t “ready” to fight, when he’s beaten him four times in the amateurs and looked better than him in the pros. Davis looked poor in his fights against Nahir Albright and Miguel Madueno. Those are the only two semi-good fighters Keyshawn has fought since turning pro. The rest of them were scrubs.

“my son”

“I think my son has improved a lot. I hope he wins the belt to see if I can take it from him for the 5th time,” said Andy Cruz to YSM Sports MediaReact to Keyshawn David challenging WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk on February 14th.

“Of course I’ll watch that fight. What kind of father wouldn’t watch his son?” Cruz said when asked if he would watch the Keyshawn vs. Berinchyk fight.
