Keyshawn Davis weighed in at 134.2 lbs, while his opponent, light welterweight Gustavo Lemos, came in overweight at 141.4 pounds at Thursday’s weigh-in for their 10-round main event fight this Friday night , November 8, at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

Keyshawn disrespects Lemos

During the face-off, Keyshawn, 25, scorned Lemos by putting his fist on the chin in a low-life move from the 2020 Olympic silver medalist. Lemos looked embarrassed to be humiliated by Davis and allowed him to do so without jostling or hitting him.

Many fighters would have done this if they had been in a similar situation and not shown respect. It is unclear why Lemos did not check on Keyshawn about his rude behavior. Maybe Lemos is still owed to the fight promoted by Top Rank because he handpicked him, and he is paid well to be his B-side opponent.

In a way, Keyshawn choosing Lemos makes him his boss because without him doing Argentina a favor, he wouldn’t have gotten this nice payday. It was always disturbing to see Lemos treated so badly and for no reason. He had been rude to Keyshawn for everything during training and he did not deserve this treatment.

It’s no surprise that Lemos (29-1, 19 KOs) came in 6.4 lbs over the 135 lb limit, because he’s been living in the welterweight division (140-lbs) since December 18, 2020.

The 28-year-old should never have been selected by Top Rank to face Keyshawn (11-0, 7 KOs) unless the bout took place in the light welterweight division.

Keyshawn could have picked Andy Cruz

If Top Rank wanted to find someone who made the weight, they should have picked Cuba Andy Cruz because he fights at lightweight, is highly ranked, and holds a sparkling 4-0 record against him from his amateur days.

Cruz schooled Keyshawn every time he fought and made him act crazy after his victory in the 2020 Olympic final. Cuban talent calls Keyshawn “my son” because he beat him so many times.

Lemos was born in Tres Arroyos, Argentina. He has a career KO percentage of 65.52. It came off a controversial 12-round unanimous decision against Richardson Hitchins at light welterweight on April 6 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. The scores for the fight were 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113. Fans on social media largely believed that Lemos had won that fight.

Friday’s Keyshawn vs. Lemos event will be shown live on ESPN+ at 6:20 pm ET / 3:20 pm PT.

Keysahwn has two of his brothers fighting on the card of Friday’s event on ESPN+. They are basically prospects and do not seem to be heading for world title honors. The real talent on the undercard is lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason (15-0, 13 KOs), who is the best fighter on the card, period. He should be in the co-feature spot instead of middleweight Trou Isley.

“I weighed 140 two days ago. So, my weight is still there. First of all, this is my homecoming fight,” said Keyshawn Davis Cigar Talk when asked why he chose the tough Gustavo Lemos as his opponent. “A lot of people didn’t want to fight me in my hometown.

“Knowing that Lemos is from Argentina and a completely different country, and it doesn’t matter. He will be outside his grid regardless. He came from Argentina to America. It doesn’t matter that it is a fight back in home. For Lemos, it comes from a period of controversial loss (to Richardson Hitchins).

“Coming from a controversial loss that feels like winning, he has another great opportunity in front of him. This will be like his redemption. So, he will be twice as good as he was the last time again, and this is someone I need in front of me to make the biggest come out of me.

“It’s going to be a great fight for that, and the fans are going to be the winners at the end of the night, as long as The Businessman (wins),” Keyshawn said.
