Jermall Charlo is training for what is believed to be his next fight, which will be on the Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. Undercard. on December 14th on PBC on Prime PPV at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

The 34-year-old former two-division world champion Jermall (33-0, 22 KOs) posted a video clip of him hitting the bag, looking in good shape. There is no word on who his opponent will be for the card. Charlo’s popularity is at an all-time low due to his inactivity and years of winning quality fights.

Jermall Tune-up for Canelo?

Even when Jermall was still fighting regularly, he wasn’t pushing himself against top level fighters. The last big win for Jermall came in 2016 when he defeated Julian ‘J-Rock’ Williams. Besides that fight, Jermall’s best win in the last eight years came against Sergiy Derevyanchenko in 2020.

A couple of names have been floated, but nothing has been confirmed. Given the long layoff, Jermall isn’t expected to fight anyone too well. Including him on the December 14 card is probably more than pumping up the PPV buys because there is not much fan interest in the Tank vs. Roach fight.

This card needs all the help it can get to entice fans to buy into the pay-per-view for what will likely be $74.95. It’s Tank’s last fight against Frank Martin sold out.

Charlo has not fought since his return against Jose Benavidez Jr. last year, beating him by a wide ten-round unanimous decision on November 25th. He had been out of the ring for a year and a half since his 12-round unanimous decision victory over Juan Macias Montiel on June 19, 2021.

There are rumors that if Jermall can pull off an impressive win on December 14th, he could be the next challenger to Canelo Alvarez to defend their unified super middleweight titles on May 3rd, 2025.

That obviously wouldn’t make the fans happy, because they want Canelo to fight relevant fighters who are active, highly ranked, and beating quality opposition. Jermall does not fit into any of these areas. He is not active, old, or highly ranked, and will probably come to the fight after beating another tomato.

The management of Premier Boxing Champions will not face Jermall on December 14 because he did not look good enough in his comeback last November against Jose Benavidez Jr. to face a talented contender like Diego Pacheco , Osleys Iglesias or Christian Mbilli. .
