The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson heavyweight bout will be an official eight-round contest that will go down in the record books as they fight in 14 days on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will be shown live on Netflix.
The fight will have special rules to accommodate the age of Mike Tyson, 58, who has not fought since 2005, when he surprisingly lost to operator Kevin McBride via a sixth-round stoppage. Tyson was 38 at the time.
Rules:
– The fight counts in the record books
– Knockouts are allowed
– 8 rounds 2 minutes
– 14 ounce gloves
The Paul-Tyson fight will be eight two-minute rounds with 14-ounce gloves rather than 10-ounce gloves. The fights are usually three minutes long, but for obvious reasons, they were shortened to two minutes for this contest.
Tyson hasn’t fought in almost 20 years and takes this fight without a tune-up. Of course, his age is advanced enough for him to face a big puncher like 27-year-old Paul. Knockouts will be allowed for this fight.
Undercard
Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano
Mario Barrios vs. Abel Ramos
Neeraj Goyat vs. Whindersson Nunes
Shadasia Green vs. Melinda Watpool
Lucas Bahdi vs. Corey Marksman
Bruce Carrington vs. Dana Coolwell
“Yeah, it looks really good. I’m a little crazy, and a little scared. This is the hardest fight I’ve had to date against the most experienced opponent,” Jake Paul told the Today channel, discussing his November 15 fight against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on Netflix.
“He’s at heavyweight. Tyson has been blowing people away in sparring. He looks in the best shape and the strongest he’s ever been. That’s what his trainers are saying. So, I know, on November 15, it’s going to be a war , but I just thought about outboxing and showing the world what I’m capable of. Come alive in the moment and take down one of the best ever.
