The Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 undercard has received a lot of criticism from fans for not having a quality fight that the average non-British fan is interested in watching on December 21st.
The only fight out of the entire five-fight card that involves world-class fighters with title-capturing potential is this one:
– Serhii Bohachuk vs. Israel Madrimov
Where are the Stars?
This fight is the ONLY one on the undercard that is attracting any interest from boxing fans. Understandably, promoters want to stack undercards with fighters that will drive PPV sales in their countries.
They also want to help promote these guys to sell them to the local crowd to turn them into ticket sellers, but there’s no one on the undercard going anywhere but having a career that falters on the domestic level as entertainment of junk-food that is. soon forgotten by fans later,
The disappointing undercard fights
– Moses Itauma vs. Demsey McKean
– Johnny Fisher vs. Dave Allen
– Dennis McCann vs. Peter McGrail
– Isaac Lowe vs. Lee McGregor
I see these fighters as scrubs and unworthy of being on His Excellency Turki Alalshikh’s prestigious December 21st card as they give fans outside of the UK NOTHING compelling to watch. These are not fights that US fans want to watch. None of these are worth looking at from my perspective, and there is no interest.
It is not clear if the promoters talked to Turki to ask him to put these fights on their card or if he wanted them. Honestly, I can’t believe he specifically asked for any of these fights to be included in his December 21st event, and for obvious reasons. They are all low-level fights that do not arouse interest.
The Turk would do the fans a huge favor if he swept these four low-level fights with the back of his hand and inserted two or three solid fights involving must-watch talents.
