Devin Haney said today that a rematch between him and Ryan Garcia is the “biggest fight” in boxing. He wants it to happen in 2025, as long as he is active “A level playing field.”
Haney-Garcia is a great fight, but certainly not the “greatest” in the sport because their previous fight was a mistch. Ryan beat the stuffing of Haney, putting him on the canvas three times. Devin looked like a human me-mewith the number of times he hit the deck in that fight, which was six times, not three.
The referee gave Haney a break to rule three additional takedowns as slips when he continued to collapse on the canvas after being badly hurt by Garcia in the seventh.
Former two-division world champion Haney is in London today to meet Turki Al-Shiekh to see if he has a better deal to offer than the one he received from BLK Prime to fight on his network in March. If Turki’s offer isn’t better than BLK Prime’s, it’s unclear whether Haney will continue to buy it himself.
A level playing field
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) still blames his loss to Ryan from last April on him being dirty with Ostarine in his system. The fans don’t believe this, but Haney mentions it instead of owning the defeat. It would have been better on Devin’s part.
However, it would be a bitter pill for him to swallow to openly admit that Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) was too powerful and talented for him to stand in their fight on April 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn , New. York.
“The biggest fight,” Devin Haney said Boxing newsThey are talking about a rematch between him and Ryan Garcia being the “biggest” fight in the sport. “It has to be clean. It’s the only way a rematch can happen, but it’s a fight I’d like to do in 2025. Maybe we can do it, but I just want to be on a level playing field.
“I am here to meet His Excellency Turki Al-Shiekh to try to make a deal. If not, I have a deal with BLK Prime, who is willing to give me what I want. We can go that way. I am here for a reason , and we can make it happen,” Haney said.
