Ezekiel Elliott Found a playoff contender. Elliott has signed with the Los Angeles Chargers practice squadNFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday night.
Released a week earlier by the Dallas Cowboys hoping to land a team that was in the playoffs, Elliott found a good landing spot called the ‘Bolts’.
The 29-year-old two-time rushing champion rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns on 74 carries this year for Dallas.
He will join a Jim Harbaugh-led Chargers team that needs a healthy back with leading rusher J.K. Dobbins will be recovering from a sprained knee and Gus Edwards has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.
Elliott is coming off his best seasons as one of the NFL’s best running backs, but the Chargers face the wild cards in Houston on Saturday.
Even more solid in the pass pro, Elliott can provide goal-line carries and relieve Dobbins if necessary. However, as he only has five days until Los Angeles opens the playoffs, he should start playing with Greg Roman’s offense.
