De La Hoya Gives Tyson 3 Rounds to KO YouTuber Paul

Promoter Oscar De La Hoya says Mike Tyson needs a three-round knockout to have a chance of beating Jake Paul this Friday night.

De La Hoya feels the 58-year-old Tyson will run out of gas after three years and will be at the mercy of the 27-year-old Jake (10-1, 7 KOs), who can punch a little for a cruiserweight and is 31 years older young man

Oscar thinks Tyson’s gas tank will run out after three rounds, as he is old, hasn’t fought in 19 years, and had stamina issues in the last two fights of his career in 2004 and 2005 .

Tyson needs a Quick KO

“Mike Tyson has three rounds to take care of business. After three rounds, the gas tank starts to run low, and he starts to fade,” said Oscar De La Hoya to the Stomping Groundanalyzing the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight on Friday.

“At his age, it’s going to be very difficult if he goes three rounds for Tyson. I think if Tyson lands the right punch in the first three rounds, it can be Sayonara for Jake Paul. I’ll give it to Jake Paul if he goes more than four rounds.

Tyson can knock Paul out after the third round because he will still have a massive power, speed and skill advantage no matter how far into the fight he goes. Paul is not a great puncher, and he is very, very slow. He is below the standards of the reporters, and Tyson can take him out if he does not gas or suffers an injury.

It was a bad sign that Tyson was out of breath minutes after his public workout on Tuesday. He was still huffing and puffing several minutes into his interview inside the ring, and you could tell he was struggling to recover after throwing a handful of punches. He shouldn’t be so tired if his cardio was on point.

Jake Paul’s tactics are questionable

“I wonder about his tactics. Fighting Mike Tyson, who is 58 years old, and fighting an ex-basketball player who can knock him down,” said De La Hoya about Jake’s strategic choice. “I understand that it is entertainment and that he has done an incredible job in marketing himself and picking and choosing the right opponents.”

What De La Hoya fails to note is what Jake Paul’s career is all about. It’s not about him trying to become a world champion and certainly not about being a legend. It’s about making money to take advantage of their massive social media following.

Hero worship

When you have 27 million Instagram followerslike Jake does, you can promote your fight to them, and many of them will buy it on PPV. I’m not a boxing fan. These are Jake’s followers, and it’s a classic example of hero worship. I could sell something to these people.

Since other sports like the NFL, NBA and NHL require real talent and are well regulated, the leagues will NEVER allow Jake to join their teams and sell his efforts on PPV. In boxing, anyone can get into the fight if they have the popularity, which Jake has to be an influencer.

“He takes the sport very seriously, but if you’re going to take it seriously, go the way the legendary fighters went. Fight the real fighters,” said De La Hoya.

Mike Tyson is about as REAL as it gets for Jake Paul, unless he can convince Canelo Alvarez to fight him. Jake’s brother Logan Paul, also an influencer, fought retired former world champion Floyd Mayweather on June 6, 2021, earning between $5 and $20 million. Logan has no intention of becoming a world boxing champion or a legend. This is about money.
